Quilty Weekend

Anna, Brenda, and me prepared for some serious fabric collecting with our Melody Miller totes

Last weekend, Brenda (pink castle fabrics and just a bit frayed), Anna (woollykat), Debbie (Esch House Quilts) and I took a road trip to Cincinnati for the International Quilt Festival!

On our way we stopped at the Fabric Shack and Sewn Studio to pick up some lovely modern fabrics and drool over more that we wanted to take home.

Heather and her Ohio Star quilt.

We had dinner with the founder of the Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild,  Heather Jones (olive and ollie) on Friday night and got to hear about the modern Ohio Star quilts she and other members of the guild had put together.

Wingin' It by Christy Meyer.

At the Festival on Saturday I was amazed by the beautiful work the CMQG had on display!  I was especially impressed by the many different modern takes on the one common element.

I loved seeing and reading about  the Twelve by Twelve blocks, and stopping by Marcia Derse‘s booth to see all of her beautiful fabric (including a new line coming out soon!).

Jessica and Rachel at the Mod Meet-up!

Saturday night we went the the CMQG meet-up and met such prolific and creative crafters as Jessica (a little gray), Faith (Fresh Lemons Quilts), and Rachel (imagine gnats).  They are all super nice and fun!

Me, Brenda, Faith, Jessica.

I  had  a great time (even if I was a little star-struck!)  There was definitely talk of more mid-west gettings together.

Now, after a whirl-wind weekend, I feel so inspired to sew!
